STEP
Thank you for your interest in ISG and our STEP Tools. These Tools complement our extensive capability to provide services to any organization interested in implementing STEP. They are up-to-date, go-to-work systems that are employed in SCRA projects today and, in earlier versions, were used in projects beginning in the early 90s.
STEPTrans
STEPTrans performs the conversion of various forms of existing technical data into a digital format that is fully compliant with AP224 of STEP. STEPTrans also provides an AP203-formatted file and an IGES file as outputs.
STEPValidator
The STEP Validator is a stand-alone application that highlights STEP features in a 3-D viewer.
The application includes a validation/discrepancy feature that documents errors.
STEPPlan
STEPPlan uses feature-based CAPP technology to quickly generate process plans within a unique data fusion environment.
We invite you to contact us or visit the ISG STEP Web Site to learn more about us and how we can help you.
ISG is a recognized leader in the development and application of ISO 10303 (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data [STEP]).
In addition, ISG is at the forefront in applying product data engineering techniques to processes that can reduce the lead times and costs associated with the delivery of parts and assemblies used in commercial and DoD's applications.
Noteworthy achievements include:
- Registration of ISO 10303 STEP Application Protocol 224, "Mechanical Product Definition for Process Planning, using Machining Features", as an International Standard.
- The design, development and deployment of production-grade product data engineering applications using AP224 including a product data translation system (STEPTrans), a product data validation system (STEPValidator), and also a generative process planning system (STEPPlan) for the factory.
- Application of developed AP224 tools and processes to a web-based, on-demand manufacturing business - Parts a la Carte (www.partsalacarte.com).
- Important contributions to the development of AP203, Configuration Controlled 3D Designs of Mechanical Parts and Assemblies, AP210, Electronic Circuit Interconnect and Packaging Design, and other APs.
- Development of a STEP Application Handbook as distributed at several STEP Community meetings. It is freely available for review and printing.
- Development of a STEP Manufacturing Suite White Paper that outlines the best of class protocols for product data generation (AP224) to macro process planning (AP213/AP240), to micro process planning (AP238) - - for the machined parts domain. (Note: APs 240 and 238 are under development.)
- Completion of ISO 10303 STEP AP224 Edition 2 as an International Standard, which includes assemblies.
- Completion of several large and complex ship application protocols (AP215, AP216, AP218) to ISO Draft International Standard (DIS) status. These APs provide the standard protocol for ship Arrangements, Moulded Forms, and Structure, respectively.
